Kolkata:

An grownup Royal Bengal Tiger, which had strayed right into a village in Kultali space of South 24 Parganas district, was trapped inside a cage on Tuesday night time after eluding forest personnel and villagers for 16 hours, Forest Minister Jyotipriyo Mallick mentioned.

Since morning, the tiger was hiding in a paddy subject after crossing a creek from close by Sunderbans Reserve Forest space, and several other efforts to seize it had failed until night, a forest official mentioned.

Mr Mallick informed PTI “the male tiger will now be checked by vets after being tranquilised tomorrow morning to see whether it has suffered bruises, cuts and then kept under observation at our rescue centre for seven days.”

If it doesn’t present any abnormality in behaviour will probably be launched within the forest, Mr Mallick mentioned.

But if irregular behaviour is observed within the animal within the subsequent one week, will probably be taken to Alipur Zoological Garden, the minister mentioned.

The official mentioned the tiger could possibly be caught at round 9 pm after forest personnel switched off all lights within the neighborhood and because the tiger emerged out of the paddy subject it was trapped in a cage which was camouflaged with leaves and branches.

It began roaring after realizing it was trapped because the door robotically bolted when it stepped contained in the cage amid cheers by a whole bunch of villagers who have been ready at a distance from the cordoned space.

“We had asked the villagers and everyone present to be calm and quiet and switch off all lights to make it appear like a jungle,” the official mentioned.
