National police commissioner General Fannie Masemola stated Saps is not going to relaxation till the suspects answerable for the mindless assaults and killings are apprehended.

  • Constable Prudence Maseko, 34, was shot useless on her approach to work in Putfontein in Ekurhuleni on Wednesday.
  • In the second incident, 26-year-old Constable Shamila Arendse was shot and killed outdoors her house in Delft within the Western Cape on Tuesday night.
  • In a separate incident, two different officers hooked up to the Benoni Flying Squad had been shot whereas patrolling the N12 between Benoni and Daveyton.

National police commissioner General Fannie Masemola has directed the provincial commissioners of Gauteng and the Western Cape to make sure most mobilisation of sources after two feminine officers had been killed this week.

In the primary incident, 34-year-old Constable Prudence Maseko was shot useless on her approach to work in Putfontein in Ekurhuleni on Thursday.

“The member was shot several times and, thereafter, disarmed of her service pistol. At the time of her death, the member had ten years serving and was attached to the Daveyton police station,” stated police spokesperson Colonel Athlenda Mathe.

In the second incident, 26-year-old Constable Shamila Arendse was shot useless outdoors her house in Delft within the Western Cape on Tuesday night time.

Arendse was hooked up to the Table Bay Harbour police station in Cape Town and was off-duty on the time of her dying, Mathe stated.

Recently, two officers hooked up to the Benoni Flying Squad had been shot whereas patrolling the N12 between Benoni and Daveyton.

Mathe stated 34-year-old Warrant Officer Josias Mpepe had succumbed to his accidents, whereas 33-year-old Constable Vusi Nhlapo was wounded and receiving medical consideration.

“The killing of our men and women in blue is an attack on the authority of the state and further undermines the rule of law.

“We have ensured most mobilisation of sources to apprehend these killers. We is not going to relaxation till their apprehended and reply to those mindless assaults and killings,” Masemola stated.
