Police detained Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and different Congress leaders from outdoors the social gathering headquarters in Delhi as we speak after they had been protesting towards unemployment and price-rise.
Dressed in black like different social gathering leaders as a mark of protest, she earlier climbed over barricades to achieve the spot the place she held a quick sit-in earlier than being taken away by cops.
Her brother, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, too was detained a short time earlier than she was. The leaders had been restricted to a corridor in Kingsway Camp in GTB Nagar.
Before beginning a deliberate march to Rashtrapati Bhavan and a “gherao” of the Prime Minister’s home, Congress MPs led led by social gathering chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi wore black garments to Parliament. Proceedings had been adjourned as Congress members created an uproar over the alleged misuse of probe businesses and the federal government “ignoring people’s issues”.
A press release from the social gathering mentioned its Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members would maintain a “Chalo Rashtrapati Bhavan” march from Parliament. Congress Working Committee (CWC) members and different senior leaders deliberate to participate in “PM House gherao”.
But the police barricaded key areas to disallow the plan on safety grounds. The administration had imposed prohibitory orders banning massive gatherings in elements of Delhi forward of the Congress march. Citing these restrictions, police had denied permission for the protest.
Ahead of the protest today, Rahul Gandhi mentioned, “We’re witnessing the death of democracy.”

“What India has built brick by brick, starting almost a century ago, is being destroyed in front of your eyes. Anybody who stands against this idea of onset of dictatorship is viciously attacked, jailed, arrested and beaten up,” he mentioned.
The BJP retorted with a jibe, asking if there’s democracy throughout the Congress, calling it a “dynastic” social gathering.
