15 dead, 8 rescued from migrant boat in Syrian waters

Syrian authorities have discovered 15 lifeless our bodies and rescued eight
survivors from a migrant boat close to the coastal metropolis of Tartous that
survivors mentioned had left from northern Lebanon, the pro-government
al-Watan Newspaper reported on Thursday night, Trend reviews citing Reuters.

The report cited survivors as saying that the boat left from
Minyeh in north Lebanon days in the past and that these on board had held
a number of nationalities. It mentioned search operations have been ongoing with
the assistance of native fishermen.

Lebanon has seen a spike in migration pushed by one of many
world’s deepest financial crises for the reason that 1850s. In addition to
Lebanese, lots of these leaving aboard migrant boats are themselves
already refugees from Syria and Palestine.
